Bishoujo Senshi Sailor Moon

Bishoujo Senshi Sailor Moon is perhaps the most recognizable anime in the entire world. When Takeuchi Naoko first published her manga in 1991, she most likely did not know that she would be creating one of the most important series to ever be imported from Japan. From comic form it evolved into animation and became an instant international hit. It was a series that single-handedly reinvented the genre of shoujo anime, and the character Sailor Moon became almost iconic to the Japanese animation world. Even now, over 10 years after the series have ended, people who have never seen a single episode of Sailor Moon can easily identify one of Takeuchi Naoko’s magical soldier girls (or Tuxedo Mask ^.~ <3).
